This novel is by the author Gary Paulson and won the Newbery honor award as it was a very good book.This book is about a boy named Braian who at the start of the book flied out to live with his grand parents after his Mum had an afair with a guy.while flying out over the Canadian woods his pilot had a heart attack and the plane crashes.With the pilot dead he must survive on his own relying on his skills,his determination , his will to survive and a Hatchet.I thought it was a very good book and I like how the writer wrote the book in a way that made you think what you would do in the situations in the book!
