Last years Poetry s.a

At black water pond by Mary Oliver is a very well written poem. In this essay I will tell you about the language that is used in this essay. I will also show how imagery is used in this poem. I will show how a poem has a tone and what the tone of at black water pond is. Last but not least I will show and tell you about imagery and why it is so important to have high level of imagery in a poem and I will show you examples of imagery that I discovered and studied in the poem black water pond.

The language of this poem is very figurative. Line 6 of this poem shows figurative language like stones leaves fire it feels cold. I think it’s figurative because it does not say I dipped my hands in cold water .It says it in a very figurative and detailed way. It is also in first tense and it shows on line 3 I dipped my cupped hands. I drink. That proves it is really in first tense.

The tone of the poem is very deep and dark. The author of the poem did this by putting the poem in first tense and he used good description words and used similes .On line 5 it shows the use of similes the author used. ‘It tastes like stones, leaves, fire. That shows the use of similes’ as the author is using an adjective to describe something the thing he is describing is not.

Last but not least this poem has imagery .It shows a clear image in the readers head. This is important in a poem because if you don’t have imagery and a clear image in the readers head the poem is really boring .Luckily this poem is very interesting because it has a lot of imagery .And that is good because that means I have a lot to write about. On line 6 it falls cold waking the bones .I hear them. That line of the poem ‘’at black water pond’’ shows very very good sauce of imagery and that line proves that there is imagery used in the poem.

In conclusion Black water pond by Mary Oliver is a very well written poem. It is a very short poem yet it is very good with loads of good use of vocabulary. The vocabulary used in this poem was very challenging. It uses a good variety of words. It has good use of figurative language and similes’. It has a dark and mysterious tone to the poem and I talked about why it is important to have good use of imagery and that it is important to show a clear image of what’s going on in the readers head. Over this entire poem is a very well written poem. I backed up all the things I wrote down on quotes and verses from the very exclusive poem Black water pond by Mary Oliver.

This is a story I wrote for you just Mss Patrice .Just cose I love writting ( and you!)

Not even the dead were safe from harm. In the middle of the night body snatchers would rise to go on the attack. But this time they were bored of the ordinary bodies. The body snatcher wanted to get a rich, well known person’s body, not just anybody. The body snatchers thought and thought until one of them came up with a good idea. ‘Hey we tried all the famous people in America, we even tried Mr. Kennedy but their bodies are too well guarded so why don’t we go for Michel Jackson?

‘’Michel Jackson! How are we going to him he is not even dead yet!” protested the others.

‘’We won’t get him we will get his nose! He’s got about 5 of them and keeps them in pickled jars next to his bed. We could get them in the night when he is asleep and we’ll turn the alarm  systems off so they won’t go off when we break in but we have to make sure the police don’t find out because they have our finger print and everything, O.K Guys!’’ exclaimed the leader.

So it was decided that they would go out on Tuesday night on their mission to get the 4th nose of Michel Jackson for their collection.

Wednesday morning 4am in Michel Jackson’s mansion

Police officers rushed to the crime scene of the robbery. A sad Michel Jackson lay on the porch in shreds of tears answering the police officers questions.

‘’When did you last see your beloved pickled nose?’’

‘’ Yesterday I gave it a hug and I held it in my hand before I went to bed” Jackson replied.

“Did you have any security cameras in action at the time? Did you see their face?”

‘’I had security cameras running at the time but I did not see their face as I was sleeping when they broke in.’’ wept Michel Jackson.

“What, you had security cameras running? Why didn’t you tell me?” said the police officer.

The group of police officers gathered around the security control centre to see the media. The media showed nothing but blackness’ but you could hear the shuffles of the robber’s feet. Meanwhile an officer came in the room.

‘’We found finger prints and we have scanned them. They matched the finger prints of Tim, Tom and Jack who have been suspects to body snatching very recently.” cried the officer.

‘’Have we got all their information? ‘’ asked the sheriff.

‘’Yes we do, and we have officers on their way to their house now!’’

‘’Let’s go“, said a desperate Michel Jackson; who ran down the stairs of his mansion as fast as the speed of light.  The policemen soon caught up and went in their police cars.  “Toyota!” cried Michel, “Go in my Ferrari instead, it’s much faster!”  The police men ran as fast as their legs could carry them to the Ferrari.  Michel Jackson was already holding the steering wheel ready to go.

They arrived at the house in 10 minutes. They searched the house finding no trace of the robbers. They kept searching until they found a young women sleeping in a double sized bed. “Wake up! “  Shouted the police. The women woke up; in sight of the police she screamed and shook with suspicious and depression. ‘’Is there a Jack, Tim or Tom under this roof“asked the police officer?

‘’I.......  I.............  I don’t know!’’ whimpered the young women.

‘’We know that you do so I recommend telling the truth ‘‘spat the officer.

‘’They’re heading to the airport to catch a plane to London. Take of is in 3 hours, they left 20 minutes ago.”

‘’No! This time they escaped’’, cried an Officer.

‘’They haven’t escaped yet’’ cried another Officer.  The officers left the house and ran to the car where Michel Jackson was ready to drive.  ‘’To the airport!” the sheriff yelled:  but there was only one problem: TRAFFIC...  The police struggled to find a solution but they made one: A strategy.   The police arranged the highway to be policed checked so there was no way to reach the airport without getting stopped.  A helicopter hung round above the high way to make sure no people abandoned their car and ran off.  After 82 minutes the police finally found the 3 criminals in a small Mini. ‘’Gotcha!” shouted the policemen who was at the check point. It could not have been any more obvious then it was, the nose was clearly in view and they had 5 police on them. ‘’You do the crime you do the time,“ one of them said.  The group of body snatchers had been busted and this time there was no escape.

My final letter to Anh

Dear Anh, I want to tell you about my favourite book of all time .Parvana by Deborah Allis Also known as the Bread winner. It is the First in the bread winner trilogy along with the 2 other books .Parvanas journey and Mud city, I personally believe the first book Parvana is the best! It’s my favourite book because of the scary setting and the historic story line. It is a book based on historic settings .Stories like this has happened and are still happening as we speak. You will truly be amazed by this book as it shows life of people in non western countries who are lest fortunate then us!

Parvana has a lot of conflict in the book because the story is based on a global issue. The people called the Taliban rule Afghanistan .A large group of fierce men with religious believes .The Taliban give out force laws about girls and women. Girls over the age of 12 have to wear a bur cur, a massive black skirt that covers every part of the body including eyes. It is designed to make the women less attractive! Girls and women are not allowed outside without a man. There are not any women’s rights under the Taliban ruling!

The story is set in modern times in a war founded desert country of Afghanistan. Parvana is a story that is similar to the lives of the many girls in Afghanistan. Parvana had a lot of conflict in her life .Parvana who once was rich but now is poor as the bombings have her and her family move to a smaller houses every time and they have No food! Dad is injured from getting beaten from the Taliban and Dad is the only person in the house who is allowed outside by himself .There is a rule were you are not allowed outside if you are a girl without a male as there are mean people called the Taliban with strict religious believes .Father is always the breadwinner of the house as her mother and her sisters are all girls .Parvana has to pretend to be a boy to sell the belongings the family have and to by food for her Family!

There are lots of good characters in this book and you will love them and the author Other describes the characters in a way that makes the characters so realistic you could almost touch them. Important characters are her father, who sells things in the market; her mother, who works hard to look after the family; Nooria, Parana’s older sister, who is a snob and often makes Parvana mad; and Maryam and Ali, Parvana's younger sister and brother.

I am looking forward to you reading this book and enjoying it as much as I did. It has a good plot, a lot of conflict and is based on stories that still happen today. You will love this book because the characters are great, there is good conflict in the story and the story is based on a global issue. This book will remind you that we are very lucky to be born in the family we are in. I hope this book will warm your heart as it did mine. You will love this book!
